Day 4
We are a frail people who forget the comfort we really long for and substitute other things. Consider the goodness of your heart—it was made for caring nurture, a listening ear, a kind and strong arm of protection. Were these your experience? When these needs aren’t met we may turn to false substitutes.

Focus
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” —Proverbs 4:23
Our hearts and their orientation towards God are very important. Desires and dreams can become twisted as we neglect to protect them or we mistake substitutes for the real thing. It is helpful to pursue reality and be on guard for temptations and traps. Consider how you can be vigilant; do you need to remove Internet access for a time? Would it be helpful to develop more healthy relationships? Life will follow, as you are guarded and can feel the springs of life! You will be open to Christ’s love.
