Sexual Integrity Recovery Path

Day 6

Emotions can be seen as weak, yet the Lord has built them into us. They communicate to us, to others, and motivate us towards action. They are gas in the tank of life. We are not to hide them, but to respond to them, and share them.

Begin the guided prayer using the audio player.

Focus

Listen to how we are taught to express our experience: “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26-27). Expressing anger is good if done faithfully.

Matthew 5:4 states, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Sadness can be comforted if made known. Joy can be multiplied when shared. Shame can be healed when shared.

God created you with emotions and desires, let them be, and share them. Because they are truly you.

Journal

Take 2-3 minutes and journal what you imagined your day would look like if you believed today’s truth. Engage your day, knowing that no matter how broken you have felt, you image a mighty God. Agree to become friends with your emotions—they are life.
