Day 9

Our legitimate longings are things we often overlook because they seem too hard to get:  to be enjoyed by others, to know that we don’t have to prove ‘it’, to not be ashamed of ourselves. We are all wanting good things we were built for.

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” — Jeremiah 2:13

Sexually self-medicating our longings is exactly the type of cistern building God tells us about. He declares that they “cannot hold water”, they will not satisfy. Yet his living water can. Are you really satisfied? Are you honest with how empty it can feel?
