Calming Anxiety

Day 6

Have you ever stopped to listen to the words you say to yourself? Are they colluding in the worry and fear, or do they soften towards you and care?

Focus

“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” —Proverbs 12:25

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” —Isaiah 41:10

It is remarkable how much we allow the worries to be all consuming, and even agree with the lies they would tell us. Can you speak kindly to yourself? Will you start repeating the words of truth that Jesus gives you? The new focus that he offers?

 

Journal

Take 2-3 minutes and journal what you imagined your day would look like if you believed today’s truth. Agree with yourself not to continue speaking anxious words to yourself.
